京A Brewing Co. is the brainchild of Kris and Alex, two North American guys and long-time Beijingers with a passion for great beer. One cold day in January 2012, they decided to homebrew a hop-forward American IPA to celebrate the coming Chinese New Year. The result, which they named “Hoppy New Year” (what else?!), was surprisingly good, and friends quickly finished off the batch and called for more. The two realized then that the only thing better than drinking full flavored, handcrafted beer is brewing it for others. And so began their dream — to make creative and delicious ales and lagers with only the best ingredients for craft beer fans here in the ‘Jing.
What began as a hobby with a couple pots and plastic buckets quickly became an obsession. Balancing corporate jobs by day, and brewing by night, Alex and Kris hosted pop-up events around town to showcase the latest creations from 京A. Over the next few months they moved from brewing out of their apartments to borrowing commercial kitchens and guest brewing on other local systems. Finally, in Spring 2013 京A Brewing Co. established its own brewery inside The Big Smoke Bistro on Xingfucun, which runs 24/7 to supply an ever-growing growing number of 京A taps in Beijing as well as their flagship location, the 京A Taproom, established in Fall 2014.
We’re excited to be part of the revolution for locally brewed craft beer that’s just starting to gain momentum in China. Check out our blog or sign up for our newsletter and public WeChat account to follow the 京A story! And thank you for supporting local beer!

We brew with the best local and imported ingredients to make full-flavored, bold, and creative beers that are free of adjuncts and artificial preservatives.
We currently have several core beers that we brew year-round, and many seasonal beers that each year we look forward to brewing, and a long history of one-off and collaboration beers. We love experimenting, blurring the lines, and combining new flavors for whimsical beers in all sorts of styles!
Our flagship American IPA is abundantly dry-hopped with Citra and Simcoe for an intense burst of tropical fruit aromas, including passionfruit and pineapple. Pale malts set the stage for flavors of fresh pine and zesty citrus, accentuated by a smooth mouthfeel, medium bitterness, and a crisp finish. A favorite among hop-heads, this beer is our go-to IPA for all occasions.

A Belgian Wit, Beijing-style. Pours hazy yellow with plenty of fluffy white head and bright aromas of mandarin orange and coriander seed. On the palate, the mild sweetness of the light grains blend with notes of earthy spice and fresh citrus, ending with a zesty dry finish.
A full-flavored American Pale Ale for the Beijing working man. Pronounced notes of grapefruit and pine resin greet the palate, with moderate hop bitterness supported by a backbone of pale and specialty malts.
An experimental ale brewed with red koji rice, an ingredient traditionally used in the production of Chinese Huangjiu and Japanese Sake. The addition of koji rice to the mash imparts a blushing red color and woody, barrel-like notes. Subtle additions of wasabi root, ginger, and moderate bitterness from earthy and herbal hops round out the palate of this unique and complex beer.
A farmhouse ale originally brewed to celebrate China’s Mid-Autumn festival. On the nose, this beer features the sweet Osmanthus flower (Gui Hua, a traditional mooncake ingredient). Earthy, peppery undertones of Sichuan peppercorn mingle with sweet malt for a silky mouthfeel and an off-dry finish.
Our year-round stout seduces with a decadent bouquet of bourbon-soaked vanilla beans. Velvety-smooth flavors of chocolate and coffee lead on to a touch of roasted malt bitterness in a lasting finish.
Our hazy, unfiltered tribute to the city we know and love and to the people who, whether it’s a blue-sky day or a no-sky day, make it so great. Intensely kettle and dry hopped, this Double IPA opens up with layer upon layer of citrus, pine needle, and stone fruit aromas. A mix of specialty malts lends a rich mouthfeel and helps carry dank flavors of pine resin, grapefruit, and peach, closing out with a dry finish. Enjoy indoors, with windows shut, and revel in this beer with an ABV and IBU that are truly ‘beyond index’.
Our crisp Bohemian-style Pilsner showcases the beautiful interplay between lightly toasted malt and aromatic hops. Pours a brilliant golden color and opens up with spicy and herbal Saaz and fruity New World hops. The gently sweet palate of Pilsner malt is matched by medium bitterness and a clean, refreshing finish.
A hazy and intensely dry-hopped Northeast-style IPA. This beer’s all about the fresh, unfiltered aroma, so pull it in close and drown your nose in a juicy spill of tangerine, peach, guava, and mango. With a pillowy-soft mouthfeel and light bitterness, this beer goes down surprisingly easy for a hop-bomb.
Visit our two locations in Beijing, where you’ll find more than a dozen Jing-A beers on tap, including our full range of year-round beers, plus seasonal and experimental brews and a selection of guest beers and ciders. We also offer bottled beers and growler fills for take-away!
Jing-A Brewpub Xingfucun offers an extensive menu by Chef Andrew Dilda, with a focus on slow-smoked Texas BBQ. In our Back Bar you'll also find six cocktails on tap and a curated selection of Bourbons, Whiskeys, and Rums.

This Friday we’ll be releasing part 2 of our collaboration with Wuhan’s No. 18 Brewing, a follow-up to the Guo Zao Breakfast Stout that we released last month. The new beer’s called Hop into Houhai, or 跳后海, and it’s a Beijing riff on 18’s flagship Tiao Donghu (跳东湖) IPA with the addition of some sour “Houhai Flavor”… Hop into Houhai 6.2% ABV | 35…
After months of work, we’re excited to announce a new milestone – bottled 京A beer, fresh off the line! We’ve filled them with one of 京A’s original recipes, the Worker’s Pale Ale.
