The present application is a continuation of U.S. patent application Ser.

A compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.7 represents halogen.
A compound according to claim 2, wherein R.sup.7 represents F.
A compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.5 represents substituted or unsubstituted C.sub.1-C.sub.6 haloalkyl.
A compound according to claim 4, wherein R.sup.5 represents CF.sub.3.
A compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.2 represents H, CH.sub.2OCH.sub.3, CH.sub.2OC(.dbd.O)CH.sub.3 or CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2R.sup.8, wherein R.sup.8 represents ##STR00081##
A compound according to claim 6, wherein R.sup.3 represents H, methyl, CH.sub.2OCH.sub.3, or CH.sub.2OCH.sub.2R.sup.8, wherein R.sup.8 represents ##STR00082##
A compound according to claim 1, wherein R.sup.5 represents CF.sub.3, each of R.sup.1, R.sup.4, and R.sup.6 represents H, and R.sup.7 represents F.
A compound according to claim 8, wherein R.sup.3 represents H or methyl.
A composition for controlling insects which comprises a compound according to claim 1 in combination with a phytologically-acceptable carrier.
A method of controlling insects which comprises applying to a locus where control is desired an insect-inactivating amount of a compound according to claim 1.
A composition which comprises a compound according to claim 1 and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of fungicides, insecticides, nematocides, miticides, arthropodicides, and bactericides.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present application concerns novel pyrimidine compounds and their use in controlling pests such as insects and other invertebrates.
The present application also concerns novels procedures for preparing these compounds, pesticide
compositions including these compounds, and methods of controlling pests including insects using these compounds.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Pests cause millions of human deaths around the world each year.
Furthermore, there are more than ten thousand species of pests that cause losses in agriculture.
The world-wide agricultural losses amount to billions of U.S.
dollars each year. Pests, such as termites, are also known to cause damage to all kinds of private and public structures resulting in billions of U.S.
dollars in losses each year.
Pests also eat and adulterate stored food.
The world-wide stored food losses amount to
billions of U.S.
dollars each year, but more importantly, deprive people of needed food.
Certain pests have or are developing resistance to one or more pesticides in current use.
Hundreds of pest species are resistant to one or more pesticides.
Accordingly, there exists a continuous need for new pesticides and for processes for
forming such pesticides.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
One embodiment disclosed herein concerns compounds useful for the control of pests such as insects.

DEFINITIONS
The examples given in the definitions are generally non-exhaustive and must not be construed as limiting the invention disclosed in this document.
It is understood that a substituent should comply with chemical bonding rules and steric
compatibility constraints in relation to the particular molecule to which it is attached.
"Alkenyl" means an acyclic, unsaturated (at least one carbon-carbon double bond), branched or unbranched, substituent consisting of carbon and hydrogen, for example, vinyl, allyl, butenyl, pentenyl, and hexenyl.
"Alkenyloxy" means an alkenyl further consisting of a carbon-oxygen single bond, for example, allyloxy, butenyloxy, pentenyloxy, hexenyloxy.
"Alkoxy" means an alkyl further consisting of a carbon-oxygen single bond, for example, methoxy, ethoxy, propoxy, isopropoxy, butoxy, isobutoxy, and tert-butoxy.
"Alkyl" means an acyclic, saturated, branched or unbranched, substituent consisting of carbon and hydrogen, for example, methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, and tert-butyl.

"Heterocyclyl" means a cyclic substituent that may be fully saturated, partially unsaturated, or fully unsaturated, where the cyclic structure contains at least one carbon and at least one heteroatom, where said heteroatom is nitrogen, sulfur,
or oxygen.
